History

We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.

In May 1954, Clyde and Claudine Williams held an Open House for Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. It was located at 702 E. Robinson Street. It occupied the former T.V. Hart residence. Claudine would be serving as the hostess. The Williams family which included their two children, Ginger and Bruce, would be living upstairs.

Clyde and Claudine were both graduates of Knoxville High School. After serving in WWII, Clyde attended the College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, MO.

Clyde was formerly employed at Knoxville Veterans Hospital for 6 years, at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Newton for 18 months and at Bybee & Davis for 3 1/2 years. He served for 3 1/2 years in the Navy during World War II.

Through the years, the business continued to grow. In 1967, a new addition was added. This included a 26' x 58' chapel, large lobby area, office, bath and music room.

In the fall of 1975, the business was expanded to include Ginger Williams Ferguson and her husband, Ronald Ferguson. The couple graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis, IN. They served their apprenticeship with the family business and continued working at Williams Funeral Home.

In 1983, Ginger and Ron Ferguson purchased the funeral home and continued with the Williams Family Funeral Tradition. Exterior remodeling was done in the late 80's, which included a new carport along the side of the building.

In 1995, extensive remodeling was completed which included a new display room with 30 caskets and vault display, computer/office and bath.

With the death of Ron Ferguson in 2001, Ginger Williams Ferguson became the owner and manager.

To better serve the Knoxville community during the changing times, a Cremation Options Display Room was added. The chapel, lobby, family room, two additional viewing rooms and office were totally updated.

In May 2004, the Williams Family celebrated 50 years of service to the Knoxville area community in the funeral business.
